THE 2ND YEAR SHOW

Some of you may or may not know that I am participating in my college end of year show next month with some work which is very....different to anything I've ever done before.

I'm going to give you all a very small preview of the work I'm showing as I've been talking about it a lot on all of my social media and have seemingly created quite a bit of interest. I also want to entice you all the come to the show and like our facebook page! (that thing up there do it, do it!)

"But You Don't Even Know My Name is a project which explores what physical intimacy (or rather non physical intimacy) has become in the digital and internet age. Using Snapchat, I have engaged in conversations with strangers and collected the images you see here in an attempt to understand how people share sexual, intimate and private moments anonymously over the internet."

This doesn't even begin to cover what I stupidly subjected myself to over the last 3 or 4 months when working on this project. It gets way more intense. Sexism, 'rape language', vulgar nudity... Towards the end of collecting imagery for the project, I used to dread checking my phone and even had to make a new, private snapchat account.

The project evolved into something that not only looks at sex on snapchat but sex in general, male dominance, the heavy influence of porn on young adults and their sexual education and knowledge, human psychology, and how social networking has changed how we connect with each other on both an emotional and physical level in every single way imaginable.

It's a potential starting point for something probably bigger than me and my work right now and while it's all very interesting and maybe a bit crazy, I didn't like how this project made me feel but perhaps I should use that feeling no matter how unpleasant to make more work. We all know my best stuff comes out of unpleasant and uncomfortable feelings.

Anyway, there you go. You just have to come to the exhibition to see what else I have to show! Please please please like the facebook page so you can keep up to date on all the goings on as we prepare for the show which will be held in Moxie Studios. All the details you need are on the facebook page so I strongly suggest you go check it out!

Until next time!
